Creamy European-Style Chicken Curry with Cream

Discover this delicious European-style Chicken Curry recipe made with fresh cream. Ingredients:

  • 500 g chicken breast or thighs (boneless), cut into cubes

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 200 ml cooking cream (heavy cream or single cream)

  • 1 heaping tablespoon curry powder

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric (optional)

  • 100 ml chicken broth or water

  • Olive oil

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • White rice or basmati rice (for serving)


Instructions:

  1. Brown the chicken:
    Heat a little olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Season the chicken cubes with salt and pepper, then sauté until golden on all sides. Remove and set aside.

  2. Prepare the sofrito (base):
    In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until soft and fragrant.

  3. Add spices:
    Return the chicken to the pan. Stir in the curry powder (and turmeric, if using) until the chicken is well coated.

  4. Make it creamy:
    Pour in the cooking cream and chicken broth. Mix well and let simmer for 10–12 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  5. Season:
    Taste and adjust with more salt or pepper if needed.

  6. Serve:
    Serve hot with freshly cooked white or basmati rice.
