Lemon Marinade for Skewers: Easy and Flavorful Recipe for Grilled Meats


Ingredients:

  • 500 g meat of your choice (pork loin, chicken, or beef)

  • 7 garlic cloves, peeled

  • Juice of 2 lemons

  • 3 teaspoons dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Black pepper, to taste

  • 2 teaspoons turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary

  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin

  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil


Instructions:

  1. Prepare the marinade:
    In a blender or food processor, combine garlic cloves, lemon juice, oregano, salt, black pepper, turmeric, rosemary, thyme, cumin, and olive oil. Blend until you get a smooth and homogeneous sauce.

  2. Marinate the meat:
    Cut the meat (pork, chicken, or beef) into cubes and place in a large bowl. Pour the marinade over the meat and mix well to ensure all pieces are evenly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a tight-fitting lid.

  3. Resting time:
    Let the meat marinate in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. The longer it rests, the more flavorful it becomes.

  4. Assemble the skewers:
    The next day, thread the marinated meat cubes onto wooden or metal skewers. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20 minutes beforehand to prevent burning during grilling.

  5. Cook:
    Grill the skewers on a barbecue, griddle, or pan over medium-high heat for about 3–4 minutes per side or until nicely browned and fully cooked inside.
